December 25, 1965 — May 5, 2018

Neil Scott Fryer, 52, of Atlantic, Iowa, and formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his home in Atlantic.

He was born December 25, 1965, to Richard and Evelyn (Steffen) Fryer in Omaha, Nebraska. Neil was raised in Omaha and attended community schools there. After his high school graduation he attended Job Corps. Neil began his employment at Hertz as a car detailer in 1998. He continued to work for Hertz for over 16 years before having to take early retirement due to having a stroke and failing health.

Neil was fortunate to always be close to his family, especially his niece, Shannon Siedlik and her husband, Chris. After his stroke and other health issues, Neil moved into Shannon’s home to gain assistance. He remained with Shannon until his passing.

He enjoyed many things in his free time such as playing darts, crocheting, and watching television. His favorite things to watch were sci-fi movies and westerns, especially John Wayne movies as he was a big fan. Above all, his greatest pleasure came from spending time with his many nieces and nephews.

Neil is survived by his siblings, Jerry (Flossy) Fryer, Sue (Scott) Black, Tom Fryer, Lonnie (John) Savatobic, Steve (Cindy) Fryer and Jackie Jenkins; many nieces and nephews including Shannon (Chris) Siedlik; many great-nieces and great-nephew; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Evelyn Fryer; sister, Karen Fryer; brother, Richard Fryer Jr.; sister-in-law, Linda Fryer; and niece, Kathryn Fryer.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Camblin Addition of Sunnyside Park in Atlantic, Iowa, with a lunch to follow.

Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk, Nebraska, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests memorials to the family to use per Neil’s wishes.
