Neil Lundy

Neil Louis Lundy, 82, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa.

Neil was born July 19, 1934, in Greenfield, Iowa, to Louis and Mary (Meisenheimer) Lundy. He attended Greenfield High School and graduated with the class of 1954. On January 29, 1956, he married Sandra Ann Noland at the Methodist Church in Adair, Iowa.

He had farmed most of his life on the Century farm. Neil had also worked at the Stuart and Anita sales barns for twenty-five years. He was a resident of the Adair area for 61 years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Adair, the Iowa Cattleman's Association and Farm Bureau.

Neil was a Boy Scout Master Leader and had been a Cub Scout leader. He was also a 4-H leader for ten years. He enjoyed woodworking, trapping for many years, and farming, which included doing chores, feeding cattle and wind rowing hay. He was a pioneer for no-till farming buying a no-till planter 40 years ago. He was very passionate about soil conservation and is why he loved his alfalfa fields. Also among his favorite things to do was attend any activity that his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in.

Preceding Neil in death were his parents; granddaughter, Stacy Carney; and his brother, Wesley "Daniel" Lundy.

Those surviving Neil are his wife, Sandra Lundy of Adair, IA; his children, Sherry (Sam) Carney of Adair, IA, Gary (Cindy) Lundy of Adair, IA and Craig (Joyce) Lundy of Adair, IA; grandchildren, Randy (Lynette) Carney, Tara Carney, Rachel (Trent) Denman, Sara Young, Shannon (James) Paup, Erika Lundy and Kyle Lundy; great-grandchildren, Jaden and Reagan Carney, Trevor and Myla Denman, Shyann and Sophie Young, and Ella and Jase Paup; a brother, Leon Harold (Carole) Lundy of Greenfield, IA; a sister, Marita Lou Lundy of Des Moines, IA; a sister-in-law, Clarine Lundy of Greenfield, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., on Monday, December 19, 2016, at Hockenberry Family Care in Adair, Iowa.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Adair, Iowa.

Burial will be in the Sunnyhill Cemetery in Adair, Iowa.
