Norma Jean was born June 27, 1931, in Redfield, Iowa, to Duvil and Ardis (Macklin) Miller. She attended Redfield schools graduating from Redfield High School with the class of 1949. She lived in Redfield up to March 4, 1950, when she married Max Caltrider at Indianola, Iowa. They lived northeast of Adair on the farm their entire married life.

Norma spent many years working on the farm. She also bartended at several places including the Blue Goose in Adair and the HiFi Club in Stuart. There were also a few other places she worked before she became self-employed cleaning homes until she was 79 years old.

She was a fantastic cook, especially her crock pot pizza and braunschweiger spread, and loved trying new recipes. Her most enjoyable activity was dancing. She looked forward to going to the Chicken Inn every Wednesday night with her friend, Dawn Christensen. And lastly, but most importantly, she loved her children and grandchildren.

Those surviving Norma are her daughters, Dennice Thompson of Des Moines, IA and Dulcey Caltrider of Adair, IA; her grandchildren, Chanel (Ronnie) Edwards of Anita, IA and Madison Vorrath of Adair, IA; and her brother, Robert (Jinny) of Pleasanthill, MO.
