Norman Krogh Jr.

November 9, 1956 — December 8, 2020

Norman Krogh Jr., 64, of Exira, Iowa, passed away from a five-year battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, in Atlantic, Iowa, with his family by his side.

Norman was born November 9, 1956, in Audubon, Iowa, to Norman and Mary (Jensen) Krogh. He attended grade school and high school in Exira graduating from Exira High School in 1974. He then went to Iowa Western Community College where he received his associates degree.

On November 5, 1976, he and Debra Kay Meurer were married in Exira. To this union two children were born, Dana Marie Krogh and Kris Norman Krogh.

Norman worked for Henningsen Construction and then Clevite (Mahle) until the late 90s. He then worked for Frigidaire in Jefferson, IA, before moving to Gettysburg, PA, to take a position as a manager for a cabinet company. He continued managing for various cabinet companies in North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Kansas. He returned to Exira and worked for Henningsen Construction until his retirement.

Although Norman wasn’t an active church member, he had a great belief.

Family, friends, and work friends were the most important aspects of Norman’s life. He loved to chat, and listen to/and tell stories. He was a very hard worker his whole life. He had many interests and hobbies including collecting, working on, and riding his classic motorcycles, along with his many trips to Sturgis, motorcycle rallies, and swap meets with his brother Dave and other friends. He was a history buff and visited many sites in the USA. He was also an avid gun collector and enjoyed target shooting and going to gun shows. He could tell you anything about different guns. He had a great sense of humor and told jokes making everyone laugh. He played guitar and fiddle for as long as anyone can remember and enjoyed it. He liked spending time in his shop where family and friends gathered for Exira’s 4th of July celebration. He kept busy with his many hobbies and more. On quiet days he enjoyed being in his little corner of the world in his recliner in his house surrounded by the things and people he loved.

Preceding Norman in death were his parents, Norman and Mary Krogh.

Those missing him and his little corner of the world are his daughter, Dana Marie Krogh Brix and partner Deric of Holstein, IA; his son, Kris Norman Krogh and wife Justine of Elk Horn, IA; brother, Dave Krogh and wife Jolene of Atlantic, IA; three sisters, Julie Howe of Altoona, IA, Anitra Sibert of Norwalk, IA and Jean Chapman and husband Marc of Cumming, IA; grandkids, Cameron, Marney, Ryder, Skylee and Kaylee; and nephews, Andrew, Kelly and Justin.
