Patricia (Pat) Ann Winchel, 78, of Atlantic, Iowa passed away peacefully on Thursday July 10th, at her home in Atlantic with family by her side.

Pat was born on May 25, 1947 in Atlantic, Iowa. Throughout her younger years she attended Menlo Community School and later graduated from Saydel High School in Des Moines.

In her early years Pat worked as a CNA at the Heritage house, bartended at the Villa and The Office Bar, but much of her life was spent working in customer service having spent time at the Prairie Dog, Hy-vee, Walmart, Orscheln Farm and Home, and most recently Casey’s in Griswold. Pat enjoyed the relationships she built with her customers throughout the years, especially the ornery ones, they were her favorite.

Pat was a go getter, never wanting to sit still for very long. Over the years in her free time she enjoyed bowling, attending her Grandkids activities, working in her yard, visiting with her friends at the Fireside Lounge, getting her nails done and most recently Karaoke, often traveling with friends to other towns to sing.

She was preceded in death by her Mother Lucille Majerus, brother Gerald, sister Lolabelle, and brother Jimmie.

She is survived by her children Dawn Meek (Jeff) of Lewis, Kris Vetter (Gary) of Elliott, and Nick (Nikki) Kinney of Papillion, Nebraska , grandchildren Bobbi Steffensmeier (Steven), Jamie Meek (Danielle), Dusty Meek (Julie), Jake Vetter (Abby), Jordan Vetter (Heather) all of Atlantic, Chris Kinney (Lisa) of Oak Grove, Missouri, Nicole (Kenneth) Buttler of Independence, Missouri, Bryar (Holden) Banks of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Brody, Beau and Baleigh Weeks of Papillion, Nebraska, 12 Great Grandchildren, her sister Deborah (Bob) Bolcar of Hartford, Iowa, brother Lonnie (Barbara) Majerus of Altoona, Sister in Law Barb Majerus of Des Moines, Sister in Law Donna Elliott of Madison, Wisconsin, Sister Kay Phippen of Guthrie Center as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to extend a Thank You to those who helped navigate the last few weeks of Pat’s life and all the help and support they were given to help care for her in her final days.

Per Pat’s wishes there will be a Karaoke Celebration of Life planned by the family at a later date. The Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA is caring for the Winchel family at this time and condolences can be left at schmidtfamilyfh.com
