Paul Mcdaniel

Paul E. McDaniel, 57, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at his home in Atlantic.

Paul Edward McDaniel was born September 30, 1957, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Lester and Wilma (Keith) McDaniel. Paul lived his entire life in Atlantic and attended the Atlantic public school system. He married Denise Mathisen on December 27, 1980, in Atlantic, Iowa. He was a grounds keeper at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club and Nishna Hills Golf Culb. Most recently he was a driver for Denise's Taxi Service in Atlantic.

In his youth, Paul was an avid insect collector and he loved to garden. He was a very talented, although untrained, pianist.

Preceding Paul in death was his father. He died together with his wife, Denise McDaniel.

Surviving Paul are his son, James McDaniel (fiancé, Beverly Todd) of Atlantic, IA; his mother, Wilma McDaniel (97) of Sun City, AZ; brothers, David McDaniel of Glendale, AZ, Gary (Jean) McDaniel of Bedford, VA and Alan (Jeanie) McDaniel of Blacksburg, VA; 3 grandsons, Jaylen "JJ", Aden and Leon all of Atlantic, IA; 6 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa. Immediately following the gathering, time for food and fellowship will be held at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the family in lieu of flowers.
