Perry E. Lego

Perry Edward Lego, 74, of Audubon, Iowa, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at the Friendship Home in Audubon. He was born on June 26, 1952, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Robert Phillip Lego and Carol LaVerne Ditlefsen.

On July 30, 2010, Perry married Pamela Jean Peterson. Together, Perry and Pam shared 16 years of marriage and a life surrounded by their family.

Perry worked for Koch Industries as a barge and train loader. Perry was also an industrial firefighter. Outside of work, one of his greatest joys was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. There was nothing quite like getting out on the open road, and his love of riding was a memorable part of who he was. His children and grandchildren were an important part of his life, and he cherished the time they spent together.

Perry is survived by his wife, Pamela Lego; his children and stepchildren, Anita Lego, Tyler Lego (Molly Lego), Jenn Nelson (Ben Nelson), Jason Williquett (Arianna Cabrera), Nicole Vesper, and Rebecca Smith (Marty Smith); and 14 grandchildren; Joe Simon, Nick Simon, Gracie Simon, Cash Lego, Conrad Lego, CeCe Lego, Hailey Williquett, Dominic Williquett, Johann Vesper, Xavier Vesper, Emery Nelson, Axton Nelson, Isla Nelson and Freya Nelson. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Judy Widlund; sisters-in-law, Beth Kaiser and Barb Peterson; brother-in-law, James Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carol Lego, and his brother, Craig Lego.

Perry’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Hospice of the Midwest and The Friendship Home for the care and compassion they provided to Perry and his family during his final days. Perry will be deeply missed by the family and friends who loved him, and the memories made with him will continue to be carried with them.

Arrangements are with the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
