Phil Uhlman

Phil J. Uhlman, 80, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 14, 2006, at the Colonial Manor in Anita, Iowa.
Phil John Uhlman was born October 5, 1925, in rural Guthrie County, Iowa, the son of John C. and Anna E. (Wedemeyer) Uhlman.
He attended country school in Adair county.
Phil served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
On December 1, 1951, Phil married Carolyn Phillips in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
The couple farmed in Adair and Guthrie counties in Iowa.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair, where he served on the cemetery board, was a church trustee and secretary. Phil enjoyed his family and friends, fishing, deer hunting, as well as farming.
Phil is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Adair, Iowa; his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Dennis Lemke of Adair, Iowa; his son, Phil Uhlman, Jr. of Adair, Iowa; a brother, Max and his wife, Beverly Uhlman of Anita, Iowa; his sister, Gladys and her husband, Norman Kading of Casey, Iowa; five grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Paul Dosal of Tampa, Florida, David and his wife, Kelli Lemke of Adair, Iowa, Ryan and his wife, Alex Lemke of West Des Moines, Iowa, Josh and his wife, Tracy Uhlman of Altoona, Iowa, Jared Uhlman of Adair, Iowa; three great-granchildren, Louis Dosal of Tampa, Florida, Taylor and Morgan Lemke, both of Adair, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Uhlman; and infant son, John Claude Uhlman; and a brother, Jack Uhlman.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2006, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa, with the Reverend Peter Haenftling officiating.
Visitation will begin at 12 Noon Sunday, with the family present Sunday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Adair.
Committal services and interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair, Iowa, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by V.F.W. Post #8877 of Adair, Iowa.
Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Adair is in charge of the arrangements.
