Ramona Margaret Johnson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ramona Margaret Bintner Johnson, who departed this world on August 22nd, 2023, at the age of 84. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Ramona Bintner Johnson was born on June 7th, 1939, in Brayton, Iowa to Joseph and Thressa Bintner. She grew up in Brayton and Exira, Iowa and graduated from Exira High School in 1957. On June 25, 1957, she was joined in holy matrimony to Duane C. Johnson at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira. Early years of their marriage they moved throughout Iowa with Duane's construction job. Ramona was a devoted homemaker and seamstress. She started her career demonstrating and selling Husqvarna Viking sewing machines. She also was a collector of Carnival Glass, which started her love of antiques. She, along with her husband Duane, started their own business buying, refinishing and selling antiques. Ramona and her husband would travel to antique shows all over the United States. Thirty-eight years ago, they bought 2 acres in St. Cloud, Florida, known as “The Farm” to family and friends. Plus, they had their antique store in Kimballton, Iowa. They “retired” from their antique business in 2011 and became permanent residents of “The Farm” back in Florida. Ramona started researching the family history of her and Duane’s ancestor lineage going back as far as the early 1800s to Denmark and Germany. After the passing of her husband, Duane, in 2016, she continued to take care of the two acre “Farm” and stayed engaged to two senior groups. She also continued to drive and travel across the country to visit family and friends.

Ramona is survived by her brother, Arnold Bintner; her daughter, Cindy Tebbetts; Son-in-law, Bill Tebbetts; Daughter-In-Law, Brenda Johnson; her grandchildren, Micheal Tebbetts, Jason Tebbetts, Stephanie Wild, Nicole Jones, Daniel Johnson, Caleb Johnson; her eight great-grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews; and chosen family Dan, Sheila, and Isaiah Stone; John and Crystal Weidner & family; and William McCauley Jr. who will continue to cherish her memory.

She was predeceded by her husband of 59 years, Duane Johnson; her sons, Ronald Johnson and Rodney “Pete” Johnson; her brothers Wilfred Bintner and Nickolas “Nick” Bintner; her sister Agnes Riesgaard; her brother and sister-in laws; and her parents.

Though Ramona Margaret Bintner Johnson is no longer with us in person, her spirit and the love she shared will live on in our hearts forever.
