Rhoda Kelloway

Rhoda Lorraine Beck was born October 26, 1931, near Brayton in Audubon County, IA, the daughter of Christian and Anna (Mumgaard) Beck and passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.

Rhoda grew up in Hamlin and Exira, graduating from the Exira High School in 1950. She then attended AIB and obtained an Associate's Degree in Business. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Ranny Kelloway at the Exira Lutheran Church. Rhoda cared for her home and family while doing the bookkeeping for the farm. She was a member of the Anita Congregational United Church of Christ where she was active as an organist, a member of the choir and a Sunday school teacher. While living in Atlantic, she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church. Rhoda was a lifetime member and past officer of the PEO. She also volunteered at the Danish Immigrant Museum in Elk Horn, IA.

Rhoda had a great sense of humor and was always able to laugh at herself. Rhoda loved music, playing bridge, golfing and fishing every year at Leech Lake with her family. She had a strong devotion to her faith, her family, her friends and the farm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ranny Kelloway; her great grandson, Dominick Whitenack; her brothers and sisters, Eva Beck, Rejner Beck, Egan (Gladys) Beck, Vera (Leonard) Vorm and Ebba (Arnold) Nissen and her brothers-in-law LaVern Paulsen and Charles Smalley.

Rhoda is survived by her children, Paula Kelloway of Ida Grove, IA, Warren (Brenda) Kelloway of Urbandale, IA, Kirk Kelloway of Glendale Heights, IL, and Jo Littleton (Stan Weihs) of Audubon, IA; her grandchildren Jill (Brad) Lufkin of Johnston, IA, Kelsey (Andy) Hipnar of Denison, IA, Andrew Duff of Iowa City, IA, Sara Kelloway of Kansas City, KS, Paul Kelloway of Kansas City, MO, Collin Kelloway of Glendale Heights, IL, and Randi Littleton of Council Bluffs, IA; her great grandchildren, Gavin Hipnar, Hayden Hipnar, Kallen Hipnar of Denison, IA, Augie Lufkin and Daltry Lufkin of Johnston, IA, and Breya Carter of Council Bluffs, IA; her sisters Jane Paulsen of Omaha, NE and Carla Smalley of North Carolina; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Anita, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Congregational United Church of Christ Church in Anita, Iowa.


Burial of cremated remains will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Danish Immigrant Museum in Elk Horn, Iowa, or the American Cancer Society.

Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
