Robert Hansen

Robert William Hansen (Bob), age 71 of Atlantic, died Monday, September 1, 2025 at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. He was born on July 27, 1954, in Audubon, Iowa to Woodrow and Wilma Hansen. Bob attended school in Walnut and graduated in 1972. Following graduation, Bob began working with his father Woodrow on the family farm. On September 19, 1981, Robert married Carol Smith at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. Bob started with Henningsen Construction in April 1986 and remained working with Henningsen’s until his passing. Bob loved what he did and working for the company.

Bob’s past time activities included watching and attending NHRA drag races, fishing, especially with his grandson, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings play on TV, and collecting eagle figures and diecast Allis-Chalmers tractors. Family was very important to Bob. He loved being a grandpa to Bentley. He never missed a sporting event or school event. And was always his biggest fan.

Robert is survived by his wife, Carol of Atlantic, and daughter Danielle and husband Matt Staiert of Atlantic; his grandson Bentley; and brother Karl (Pete) Hansen of Walnut.

Robert was proceeded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Wilma Hansen, mother-in-law and father-in-law Don and Jeanne Smith, grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Pastor Heather Santi-Brown officiating.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the funeral home.
