Robert Just

Robert “Bob” Just, 79, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Bob was born December 16, 1938, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Frank and Thelma (Butler) Just. He grew up on a farm near Wiota and attended school in Anita, graduating from the Anita High School in 1957.

He joined the US Army in 1961 and served until 1963, then remained in the reserves until 1967.

On August 6, 1966, Bob was married to Suzanne Vorm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa.

He worked as a tractor mechanic at Cappel's. He then worked as a welder for Iowa Electric Light & Power Company. In retirement, he worked seasonally for Pioneer Seed for a farmer with harvest, and for Hy Vee delivering flowers until his health declined.

Bob was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he had served as a council member in past years. He was also a member of the Elks and the Nishna Hills Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, washing and waxing his car and taking Jason’s dogs, Ace and Jet, for car rides and then buying them a McDonald’s hamburger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Just; twin brother, Ronald Just; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann (Maurice) Croghan; and parents-in-law, Leslie and Lorene Vorm.

Bob is survived by his wife, Suzanne Just of Atlantic, IA; daughter, Sandra Just and special friend, Woody Bonner of Denver, CO; son, Jason (Angelina) Just of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Zechariah Westphalen and Anabel Just, both of Atlantic, IA and Aaron and Gabriela Cardona of Denver, CO; a sister-in-law, Judy Just of Atlantic, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (Nancy) Hansen of Audubon, IA, Ken (Julie) Vorm of Audubon, IA, Bruce (Diane) Vorm of Casey, IA, Sheryl (Jeff) Harder of Walnut, IA, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and Jim Crall and Clayton Ellingson who visited Bob on a regular basis.

Visitation with family will be from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, during a luncheon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2108, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Atlantic, IA. Burial will be in Oakfield Cemetery east of Brayton, Iowa, at a later date.

Memorials may be left to the family’s wishes. Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
