Ronald Emgarten

Ronald (Ron) Emgarten, 57, passed away from cancer on April 13, 2021, at his home in Adair, Iowa. He fought fiercely against cancer for nearly two years.

Ron was born on February 3, 1964, to William and Joyce (Westergaard) Emgarten. He grew up on an acreage just west of town with five siblings. Ron graduated from Adair-Casey High School in the class of 1982. Upon graduation, Ron attended the National Education Center Tech School in Des Moines, Iowa. He was employed by the Library Binding Service (LBS) in Des Moines and ran a printing press for 20+ years. After his career in printing, Ron decided to work closer to home and began to work for Tim Schafer as a carpenter. He took great pride in his work on the Schafer Wedding Barn.

Ron was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church both in Adair, Iowa. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Ron loved living life on his acreage outside of Casey. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and working on vehicles. His pride and joy was his Harley Davidson motorcycle which he loved to ride, including many trips to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He also had a love for dogs, including two special companions who remained by his side through his cancer journey. Ron always looked forward to spending time with his daughter, family, and friends. He loved gatherings with good food and fun.

He is survived by his daughter, Riley Beard and her mother Darcy; his brothers: Bill Emgarten and Mark (Trista) Emgarten; his sisters: Cinda (Perry) Leeper, Cheryl (Mark) Williams, and Connie Emgarten; as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and close friends.

The Emgarten Family is hosting a celebration of life service. It will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Hall in Adair, IA.

Private burial will be held at Sunnyhill Cemetery, in Adair, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the family for use to further Ron's daughter's education.
