Ronald "Ron" Templeman, age 92 of Atlantic passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Cass Health in Atlantic.
Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Exira. A Prayer Service with Military Honors will be at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Exira Fire & Rescue and can be sent in care of Schmidt Family Funeral Home to P.O. Box 523 Atlantic, Iowa 50022.

Ronald Gene Templeman was born on December 25th, 1933 in Audubon, Iowa, to Harley and Ruth Templeman. He grew up in Atlantic, Iowa, on the family farm. Graduating from Atlantic High School in 1952. He was drafted into the US Army in 1955. During his 2 years of active service, Ron attained the rank of Corporal and was stationed at Fort Bliss, in El Paso, Texas where he was a Stinger guided missiles instructor.
He married the love of his life, Carol Dwornicki on June 6th, 1954 in the Atlantic Zion Lutheran Church. They lived in Exira, Iowa for 18 years, where they raised three daughters, Denise, Sheryl, and Shelly. Ron was very proud to have worked as a Purina feed store manager for many years in Exira and Audubon with Ray’s Feed Service and Aud-Ex. Also, with Country Feed & Seed in Audubon. Ron and family moved to Audubon, Iowa in 1978 returning to his family farm in Atlantic in 2001. After retirement, he enjoyed a few years of working with his brother, Dennis doing masonry work.
Ron was also a volunteer for the Exira Fire Department for 16 years serving as Fire Chief for 2 of those years. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, hunting with his brothers, and going dancing and golfing with Carol and many close friends. Family get-togethers always including long chats and games around the kitchen table, with the occasional baseball game in the back yard. He will be remembered for his love of family, teasing, easy laugh, and ability to fix almost anything.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Ruth Mitchell, and great-grandson Samuel Kurtz. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughters, Denise (Glen) Kurtz, Sheryl (Rich) Greene, and Shelly (Jason) Roberts; his grandchildren, Amy Perry, Ron (Jamie) Kurtz, Jennifer (Jake) Burns, Cody (Kyrstee) Roberts, Spencer Greene, Jacob Greene, Jaclyn Schmidt; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Norman (Sherry) Templeman and Dennis (Diane) Templeman; and many nephews and nieces.
