Ronny Dean Ferguson was born on December 7, 1936, in Webster County, Nebraska, the son of Paul and Inez (Hagan) Ferguson.
Ron graduated from Casey High School in 1955 and then went to work for Betts & Beer Construction before entering the military reserves.
Ron was married to Karen Smith on September 20, 1959, at the Casey United Methodist Church in Casey, Iowa.
After their marriage they lived in Greenfield, Iowa, for 5 years, where he worked at Lloyd Hager Construction for a short time. Ron and Karen moved to Adair in 1964 and he returned to work at Betts & Beer Construction. He worked there for 47 years as a construction superintendent. Ron was known to be a workaholic; since his retirement, he had helped at Noland Feed and Fertilizer and Jorgensen Farms.
Ron was a former member of the Adair Lions Club, a charter member of the 5 x 80 Golf and Country Club and a 25 year member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple. He was also a member of the Casey Masonic Lodge, 5 x 80 Shrine Club and the Adair United Methodist Church, where he served on numerous church boards. Ron also volunteered his time as a 4-H leader.
He loved spending time at the farm and with his cattle, as well as watching the cattle shows at the fairs he attended. This year at the Guthrie County Fair was especially nice as he watched his granddaughter show her cattle.
