Royce Lee Sarsfield, 72, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
He was born October 6, 1943, in Atlantic, the son of Harold and Juanita (Krogh) Sarsfield. Royce was raised in Atlantic and attended school there, graduating from Atlantic High School.
Royce and Cindy Nolte were united in marriage on January 24, 1970, in Atlantic. He farmed for several years and later became an over the road truck driver for several firms. Royce retired from over the road trucking and purchased a dump truck, then was self-employed for the past eight years.
He had a passion for hunting, fishing, gardening, and all animals, and anything that had to do with nature and aviation. He also loved and treasured time with his grandchildren playing cribbage.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Sarsfield and Juanita McIntosh; parents-in-law, Donald and Shirley Nolte; two brothers, William Hogueison and Paul Hogueison in infancy; a sister, Marie Huisenga; and step-mother, Mary Ann Koerner.
Surviving Royce is his wife, Cindy of Atlantic, IA; his children, Shelly (Mike) Baumhover of Sac City, IA, Shawn (Melissa) Sarsfield of Atlantic, Jodi (Abby) Ward of Lewis, IA, Aaron (Trina) Sarsfield of Atlantic, and Rachel (Steve) Griffiths of Atlantic; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Twila (Howard) Christensen of Wiota, IA, and Jennie (Richard) Riemer of Elk Horn, WI; brothers, Dennis Hogueison of Plattsmouth, NE, Robert (Carol) Hogueison of Kimballton, IA, and Robert Sarsfield of Menominee Falls, WI; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life visitation with family will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
The family requests memorials to the family to be used per their wishes.
