Russell (Russ) Charles Rudy Jr., passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Cass Memorial Hospital in Atlantic at the age of 74 years. He was born on May 3, 1952, to Russell Sr. and Ruth Rudy in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up in rural Atlantic with his brothers and sister. He attended Atlantic Community Schools.
Russ worked at American Buildings for over 17 years. In 1993, Russ and his brother Roger started and co-owned R&R Muffler and Brakes in Atlantic for over a decade. He had raised chickens and hogs and had side jobs working with an area farmer.
In 1978, Russ married Anna (Rau) Rudy. Together, they welcomed a son and daughter. Eventually their journey as a couple evolved and they became co-parents. He was a loving and loyal father to his children.
On May 7, 2005, Russ married Pamela (Baker) Rudy. This union brought Pam's daughters and grandchildren to his life. Together, Russ and Pam enjoyed Nascar races, trips to California, and other states. His favorite pass time was going fishing. Bass, walleye, or bluegill, it didn't matter as long as he caught a fish and didn't lose his favorite fishing pole. However, when he did lose it, he managed to use another pole to snag the tree that took it. Russ liked watching football on TV. He enjoyed college football but was a staunch Minnesota Vikings fan. Russ had a favorite car, a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle to which he carried a photo of the car in his wallet always.
Those preceding Russ into heaven were his parents Ruth and Russell Rudy Sr., his twin brother Royce and sister-in-law Beverly Rudy.
Surviving and remembering him are his wife, Pamela Rudy of Atlantic, IA; son, Tony (Katie) Rudy of Nebraska City, NE; daughter, Katie (Robin) Anderson of Dallas Center, IA; and stepdaughter Christina Chavez of Fort Dodge, IA; brother Roger (Sue) Rudy of Atlantic, IA; brother Randall (Jeannie) Rudy of Anita, IA; and sister Rhonda Gallagher (Steve Nevins) of Avoca, IA; also he was blessed with 12 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
