Sandra Lansdown

Sandy Lansdown, 64, of Atlantic, Iowa, was surrounded by her family at her home as she peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, March 7, 2018.

Sandra Kay was born February 2, 1954, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Robert and Beverly (Strike) Bennett. She attended school in Atlantic and graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1972. After graduating, she attended the La James College of Hairstyling in Mason City, Iowa. Sandy started her hairstyling career at the Powder Puff in Atlantic and then worked at several other salons, with Unique Salon and Spa being the most recent.

On September 17, 1976, Sandy married Robert Bruce Lansdown in Atlantic, Iowa.

Sandy was a resident of Atlantic her entire life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed going to craft shows, cosmetology presentations, and loved baking anything that included chocolate. Her favorite and most enjoyable activity was spending time with her grandsons, both of whom she thought the world of.

Sandy’s consistent quiet demeanor, easy-going calming effect, kindness, and charming giggle will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bennett; a sister-in-law, Lani Bennett; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Bob Lansdown of Atlantic, IA; a son, Chad (Stephanie) Lansdown of Atlantic, IA; a daughter, Jamie (Ryan) Pelzer of Malvern, IA; two grandsons, Korbin Pelzer of Malvern, IA and Hayden Lansdown of Atlantic, IA; her mother, Beverly Bennett of Atlantic, IA; two brothers, Larry Bennett of Seattle, WA and Bill (Lydia) Bennett of Duluth, MN; and a nephew, Brian (Nichole) Bennett of Savage, MN.

Visitation with family will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.

Memorials may be left to the family’s wishes to be designated at a later time.
