Scott "Ole" Olson

December 8, 1958 — November 5, 2019

Richard Scott “Ole” Olson, the son of Robert (Bob) and Susan (Sittler) Olson, was born December 8, 1958, in Omaha, Nebraska, and lost his battle fighting cancer on November 5, 2019, at home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 60 years, 10 months, and 27 days.

Scott was baptized at Augustana Lutheran Church in Omaha. He attended grade school in Omaha. Him, his dad and brother, Jeff, moved to Audubon where he attended high school, graduating with the Audubon High School Class of 1977. Scott was employed as a mechanic at Louie’s Standard which later became Delbert’s Amoco while he also raised hogs on the homestead southwest of Audubon.

On March 21, 1980, he was united in marriage to Pattie Hansen at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Jesse and Wendy. Scott worked for Delbert’s Amoco for over 17 years. He was a car salesman for Christiansen Motors for a short time and then he went into partnership with Randy Nelsen to form City Service Exhaust Pros on Main Street in Audubon. They operated the business for several years. After selling it, Scott developed his Car Krazy business at home where he would buy, sell, and repair vehicles with his son, Jesse. Ten years ago they moved Car Krazy to its present location on Highway 71.

Scott loved to go pheasant hunting with his son, Jesse. Scott spent many Friday nights at the Audubon Speedway waiting for Leo Madsen to drop the green flag. He drove Hobby Stock for several years and then moved on to Harley Davidson motorcycles. Scott spent many Saturdays at the Carroll Cycle Center searching for new chrome pieces for his bikes. On weekends, he loved to close the shop down and take his daughter, Wendy, on a motorcycle ride. Scott was passionate about his family and loved spending time with Carolyn, her kids, his kids and all their grandchildren. He also always had a soft place in his heart for cats and dogs and he took care of his pets like kings.

Preceding him in death was his father Robert “Bob” Olson, his stepdad, Don Bessinger, and his grandparents: Leroy and Marge Olson, and Kathrine and Will Austin.

Survivors include his children, Jesse and wife Britni Olson of Audubon, Iowa and Wendy Olson of Waukee, Iowa; his grandchildren, Kodi, Porter, and Rhett Olson all of Audubon, Iowa; his mother, Susan Olson of Omaha, Nebraska; his brother and sisters: Laura and Burt Mac-Holmes and Lisa and Tim Stratton, all of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jeff and Linda Olson, of Cookeville, Tennessee; his fiancée Carolyn Boehm of Audubon, Iowa; her children, Bruce Boehm, Jr. and wife Trisha and their children Mabel and Henry all of Carroll, Iowa, Sarah and husband Justin Morrison and their children Trace, Nolan, and Clay of Clear Lake, Iowa, Kalli and husband Matt Wilder and their children McKenna and Avery of Audubon, Iowa, and Katie Boehm and her children Huxley and Emmalyn of Exira, Iowa, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
