Serina Helinski

Serina Mary Lynn Waterbury was born September 15, 1976, in Sacramento, California, the daughter of Robert and Pauline Elizabeth (Steele) Waterbury and passed away Friday, December 27, 2013, at her home in Anita, Iowa.

She attended school in Sacramento, California, and Red Oak High school in Red Oak, Iowa. Serina was married to Mark Helinski in Reno, Nevada, and the couple settled in Anita, Iowa.
She worked as a CNA at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center and as a dishwasher at the Redwood Steakhouse in Anita. Serina was a member of the Anita United Methodist Church and a member of the "Women of Faith."

Serina always had a positive outlook and was uplifting to others. She was kind, caring and enjoyed helping others. Although she loved her friends and community, family was most important to Serina.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Pollock; her grandparents; her uncles, David Kimball and John Steele; and her father-in-law, Walter Francis Helinski.

Serina is survived by her husband, Mark Helinski of Anita; her children, Andrew Waterbury (Angelina Wills) of California and Haley Helinski; her grandson, James Thomas Wills of California, her father, Robert (Ruth) Waterbury of California; her siblings, Tina (Joseph) Propst of Tulsa, OK, Jim (Millie) Vicker of Salem, OR, Cindy (Marty) Edwards, Christine (Kevin) Koonz, Pam Myers, Josh (Trisha) Smith and Bobby Waterbury all of California; her step-father, Randy Pollock of Anita; her step-brothers, John Pollock of Anita and Jim Pollock of Atlantic; her step-sister, Suzanne Raveling of Templeton; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Anita.

Lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.

Hockenberry Family Care in Anita is assisting the family with services.
