Shirley Fagan

Shirley Renie Fagan, 59, of Urbandale, Iowa, and formerly of Adair, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Shirley was born July 19, 1960, in Greenfield, Iowa, to William and Wilma (Wagner) Fagan. She graduated from Adair-Casey High School in 1978, and then graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

Shirley’s passion was family and friends gathering together, and never forgetting a birthday. She gained peace and satisfaction by being active in her church life. She struggled with addiction and found support from those who surrounded her. As she received support, she also gave care as an in-home care provider to the sick and elderly.

Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, and sister-in-law Diana Fagan.

Surviving her are siblings Rose Meredith, Robert Fagan and Rita Frie; aunt, Emily Wagner; aunt and uncle, Larry and Cleo Gipple; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation with family will be Thursday, August 1, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair, Iowa.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2019, at St. John Catholic Church in Adair, Iowa, with burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery, also in Adair.
