July 22, 1970 — September 27, 2015

Stanley Dean Lillard, 45, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and formerly of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home after battling a very aggressive pancreatic cancer.

He was born July 22, 1970, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of William and Karen (Boehme) Lillard. Stan was raised and attended school in the Atlantic area. After serving time in the Navy, Stan went into a roofing business with his dad. After several years of roofing together, they both moved on to different careers. Stan then started in the asphalt business, first with Henningsen Construction. After several years with Henningsen, he moved to Des Moines where he then started with Des Moines Asphalt and Paving, where he met his wife, Liz. In 2010, he decided to go to work for Western Engineering, where he, his wife, and daughter, currently work. He was promoted to superintendent in March and couldn't have asked to work for a better company.

Shortly after high school, Stan married Leah and had two children, Cody and Danielle. A few years later, He married Laureen and had two children, Tiffany and Tori, along with her son Brandon. Stan was a very loving and devoted father. He was very passionate about his family. In 2010, he married Liz on top of the stratosphere in Las Vegas. From that moment on, he and Liz rarely spent any time apart. Stan loved to vacation with his family, go deer hunting with his dad and friends, and loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and dogs. Stan was a huge Cardinals fan. He got to see several home games and was even named after two Cardinals players, Stanley Musial and Dizzy Dean.

Stan was mostly known for his drive, his leadership, and his ability to get the job done. Anyone who has worked around Stan, knows how great he was at his job and worked well with his coworkers. He will be greatly missed by all. Stan lived by his motto, "get busy livin", and he did just that.
