Tamara Jo Hetrick, 43, a lifelong Atlantic resident, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006 at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Tamara Jo Hetrick, was born October 11, 1962, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Daryll Lee and Janice Marilyn (Kay) Peterson.
She attended the Atlantic School System and graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1982.
Tamara was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, and was currently a member of the Atlantic United Church of Christ.
On April 11, 1987, Tamara married Jeffery D. Hetrick at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, Iowa. Their son, Myles, was born December 6, 1990.
Tamara was a member of the Child Care Association, worked in the lunch program for the Atlantic Community Schools and was a former employee of the Nishna Valley Credit Union.
Tamara's wish was fulfilled three years ago when the family traveled to Yellowstone National Park. They stayed in a log cabin with no television, much to the dismay of Myles.
She was an accomplished child care giver and was "super" with children and provided loving care for many youngsters. But, above all, Tamara loved Jesus and her family!
Tamara is survived by her husband, Jeffery D. Hetrick of Atlantic, Iowa; her two sons, Myles Hetrick of Atlantic, Iowa and Corey Hetrick and his wife, Alicia of Hubbard, Iowa; her daughter, Cherese Guyer of Atlantic, Iowa; her parents, Daryll and Janice Peterson of Atlantic, Iowa; a sister, Cynthia Younger and her husband, Doug of Kansas City, Missouri; a brother, Kevin Peterson of Atlantic, Iowa; her maternal grandmother, Rozell Kay of Atlantic, Iowa; two nephews, Aaron and Brody Peterson; two nieces, Stephanie and Samantha Peterson, all of Atlantic, Iowa. She is also survived by her parents-in-law, Glenn and Marjorie Hetrick of Atlantic, Iowa; as well as her brother-in-law, Chuck Hetrick and his wife, Sherri of Maryville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Clifford Kay; and her paternal grandparents, Clarence and Emilie Peterson.
Committal services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2006, in the Atlantic Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa, with memorial services following at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic. Officiating at the service will be the Reverends Dennis and Sally Meyer of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and the Reverend Dr. Mary Hansen of the United Church of Christ.
Visitation is scheduled to begin at 12 Noon Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
The family is requesting memorials for use in a future fund in Tamara's honor and memory.
Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic is handling the arrangements for Tamara and her family.
