Mr. Todd Roecker

I lived a great life! I was born to Orv and Lee Roecker on December 19, 1955. I was born and raised in Harlan, Iowa. I attended St. Michael's for elementary school and Harlan for junior and senior high. I graduated from Harlan Community High School in 1974 and Dana College in 1978 with a degree in business education. I played on Harlan’s first state championship football team and served as co-captain on Dana College’s team. I later received my Master’s in School Administration from Creighton University (Go Bluejays!) I was in the education field for 33 years, 7 of them as a teacher/coach in Glenwood and 26 of them as a School Principal/Athletic Director in Primghar, LeMars Gehlen, and Atlantic Middle School.

I married my high school sweetheart, Jolene Teresa Bruck, the love of my life and best friend, at St. Mary’s Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth, Iowa, on December 20, 1975. Since Jolene and I married, our family has been our priority. We raised our children, the Fab 4: Katie (Ryan), Kelly (Shawn), Kami (Jeff), and Christopher (Heather). It was a life full of love, hard work, and family. Jolene and my greatest blessings are our children, their spouses, and our grandchildren, the Eleven from Heaven: Tate, Hadley, Maxwell, Carson, Emma, Brody, Noah, Weston, Dalton, Elijah, and Easton Todd. I know I will be missed by my brothers: Greg (Denise), Marc (Kim), and sister-in-law Kathleen, as well as the extended Bruck family, numerous nieces and nephews, my dear friends, and golf and breakfast buddies. I love you all dearly. Now celebrate our love!

Throughout my life, I enjoyed all sports, camping, boating, fishing, biking, attending the grandchildren’s activities, Creighton games, and especially water skiing with the grandkids.

The Knights of Columbus has been a significant part of my life since 1979. I became a 4th Degree member in 2006. I have served as a Grand Knight for the Atlantic Council for 3 years. I served as a trustee, a 4th Degree Faithful Scribe, and as an Insurance Field Agent to protect Brother Knights and their families. I was currently serving as the Faith Director and Family Holy Hour Chair for the state of Iowa. Most recently, I accepted the position of Director of Life for the state and am a proud board member of the newly formed LC Pregnancy Clinic.

I arrived in Heaven on Saturday, June 2, 2023, and was greeted by my beloved brother Scott, my parents Orv and Lee, and my grandparents. I’m having a wonderful time catching up, telling jokes, and playing golf with them.

A visitation will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, on Friday, June 9, from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m., starting with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Sharing memories of Todd’s life will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. The mass will be live-streamed and recorded and can be located on the funeral home’s website. A luncheon will be held following the mass located in the church hall.

Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to LC Pregnancy Clinic in Atlantic, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, or a future scholarship fund. Memorials may be mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home P.O. Box 523, Atlantic, Iowa 50022.
