William Wilson

May 20, 1965 — November 5, 2019

William “Chris” Wilson, 54, of Griswold, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2019, at the Griswold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Griswold, Iowa.

Chris was born May 5, 1965, in Atlantic, Iowa, to William Wilson and Linda Lou (Auerbach) McCurdy.

Chris, as everyone knew him, resided in Shenandoah with a very special foster grandma, Dolly Dorhmann until she was unable to care for him. While there, he graduated from the Shenandoah High School in 1985. He then worked at Nishnabotna Recycling Center for many years. When Dolly became unable to care for Chris, he lived at Park Place in Glenwood until their closing. In 2015, Chris moved to be closer to his sister and resided at Griswold Rehabilitation and Care Center until his death.

He loved watching cartoons, spending time with his sister, going for rides in the red truck, the color red, and drawing. Chris’ face would always light up with the mention of sissy. He loved to make the staff smile and laugh. He had a certain glow about him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and maternal grandparents.

Chris is survived by his sister, Sherry (Brian) Wall of Shelby, IA; his step-father, Pat (Diane) McCurdy of Atlantic, IA; brothers, James (Connie) McCurdy of Iowa City, IA, Timothy (Jen) McCurdy of Chesterfield, MO, and John (Ann) McCurdy of Anita, IA; a very special niece, Ashlee Wall and her friend, Ted Zacharias; nieces, Mary, Margaret and Lucy McCurdy; nephews, Matthew, Joe, Johnny and Michael McCurdy; uncles, Lyle (Louise) Auerbach of Lincoln, CA, and Dennis (Linda) Auerbach of Brentwood, CA.

Visitation and a time of lunch with the family will begin at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the Griswold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Griswold, Iowa.

A private family graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery in rural Cumberland, Iowa.
