1983 Andrew 2023

Andrew Grieshaber

April 7, 1983 — May 6, 2023

Andrew John Grieshaber, age 40, of Cumberland, IA, died on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from injuries he received in a motorcycle accident near Cumberland, IA. He was born the son of Arden Leroy and Patricia Kay (Waters) Grieshaber on April 7, 1983, in Atlantic, Iowa. He received his education at Cumberland-Massena High School and graduated with the class of 2001. Andy was married in 2004 to Jamie Crawley; they then later divorced. Together they raised four fur babies: cats – Cassidy, Pete, Ella, and Andy’s beloved dog Zzz.

Andy held several jobs over the years. He cared for purebred greyhounds, recycled plastics, framed houses, and made Yeti Coolers. His primary career was to raise Wagyu Cattle, and he was most recently employed as a handyman for Lawrence Havens. Andy was a “jack of all trades and a master at none.”

Andy was a lifelong member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church. In 2017, Andy joined the Massena Lions Club, where he held the official position of president in its last year of existence. Andy was a generous man and loved helping people.

Andy enjoyed watching NASCAR races, especially #48 Jimmie Johnson. He also was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs Fan and enjoyed golfing, figure 8 races, mud bog events, and playing with children.

The greatest enjoyment of Andy’s life was riding on two wheels, going fast, and giving other people rides. It started from bicycles to mopeds, then up to Harley Davidsons. The first Harley he owned, he revamped a sidecar onto it. This sidecar was famous for making Andy notorious for giving rides to his dad, his dog Zzz, and a 90-year-old woman to church on Sunday! Most recently, Andy would provide for his mom “Wind Therapy” on his ’05 Bagger. When Andy was a kid, it was his turn to name the family dog, and without hesitation, he called him Harley Davidson.

He is preceded in death by fur-child Zzz; his father, Arden Leroy Grieshaber; father-in-law Jim Crawley; brother-in-law Christopher Crawley; paternal grandparents, Arden and Maxine Grieshaber; maternal grandparents, Noel and Bertha Waters; Uncles, Rick and Jim Waters, Kenny Young, and Bob Hopkins; Aunts, Marjorie Akers, and Janet Soncrant.

Andrew leaves behind his mother, Patty of Cumberland; brothers, Nathan Grieshaber of Anita and Robin Grieshaber of Cumberland; two sweet nieces, Bailey and Tinley Grieshaber of Atlantic; Aunts Linda (Lance) Coles of Ankeny, Alice (Mike) Greise of Omaha; sister Rita Waters of Washington, D.C, Elanor Hopkins of Weston, IA, Barb Waters of Cumberland, Chick Waters of Des Moines; Uncles Ben (Tammy) Waters of Marne, Frank (Sheryl) Waters of Cumberland; Special Cousin/Brother Joel Greise; and several cousins, extended family and friends.
