Betty L. Riley, 76, of Forsyth, Missouri, and formerly of Lyman, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Skaggs Community Hospital in Branson, Missouri.
Betty Lou Riley was born March 30, 1930, in Lyman, Iowa, the daughter of Calvin G. and Alma S. (Wohlenhaus) Lindeman.
She was a 1948 graduate of the Atlantic High School and on June 3, 1953, Betty married B.J. Riley in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
She taught country school in the rural Lyman area for several years.
The couple lived in Lyman, Iowa until moving to Forsyth, Missouri, in January of 1991. Her husband, B.J., passed away in February of 2000.
While living in Lyman, Iowa, Betty attended the Atlantic Gospel Chapel. In Forsyth, Missouri, she was a member of the Riverside Bible Baptist Church where she was also active in the Ladies Bible Study Group.
Betty is survived by her son, Mike Riley of Grand Island, Nebraska; her daughter, Jo Marie Riley of Forsyth, Missouri; two granddaughters, Morgan Riley of Chicago, Illinois and Karly Riley of Grand Island, Nebraska; four sisters, Pauline and her husband, Murry Schuler of Griswold, Iowa, Lois and her husband, Harold Wagner of Atlantic, Iowa, Martha Jane and her husband Grover Lehmkuhl of Villisca, Iowa and Grace and her husband, Verlain Rathkamp of Lyman, Iowa; two brothers, Lloyd "Bud" Lindeman and his wife, Doris Jane of Atlantic, Iowa and C.G. Lindeman and his wife, Helen of Lyman, Iowa; brother-in-law, Charles and his wife, Jane Riley of Lee's Summit, Missouri, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Riley; her parents Cal and Alma Lindeman; her father-in-law, Arley Riley and her mother-in-law, Lizzie Riley.
Visitation for the public will be Monday, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care. No family visitation hours are scheduled.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2006, in the Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Chapel in Atlantic, Iowa with Stefan Johnson of the Atlantic Gospel Chapel officiating. Devotional music for the service will be provided by a quartet of Ned Brown, Stefan Johnson, Bud Lindeman and Bill Kragelund. They will sing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" and will be accompanied by Janet Freeman.
Casket bearers are Jack Wagner, Jeff Topham, Mark Goldapp, Ed Morris, Mark Guldenpfennig and Jeff Vanderhoof; honorary bearers are Harold Wagner, Grover Lehmkuhl, Verlain Rathkamp, Charles Riley and Murry Schuler.
Assisting the family with flowers are Bob and Becky Maley, Rick and Nancy Tasto, and Fred and Cyd Lindeman.
Committal services and interment will be in the Weirich Cemetery, southeast of Lyman, Iowa followed by a fellowship and luncheon at the Atlantic Gospel Chapel.
