Darlene Hunt, 62, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Darlene (McClain) Hunt was born on April 2, 1944, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Carl and Irene Christine Elizabeth (Thorne) McClain.
She attended Red Oak Community High School in Red Oak, Iowa, and then on April 22, 1960, Darlene was married to Larry Dean Hunt.
She lived most of her life in Red Oak and moved to Atlantic in 1990. While living in Red Oak and Atlantic she worked 25 years as a food and beverage director.
Darlene loved spending time with her grandchildren and some of their fondest memories include making cookies with her. She also enjoyed gardening and going to garage sales.
Darlene is survived by her sons, Richard "Ric" Hunt of Mexico City, Mexico, and Jeffrey Hunt of Las Vegas, Nevada and daughter Tracy Jacob and her husband Douglas of Atlantic, and their children, Alicyn Dalene and Grace Annette; sister Marilyn Reiley and her husband Jim of Bridgewater, Iowa; brothers Bob McClain of Billings, Montana and Butch McClain of Mississippi; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Geraldine Silence; and nephew David Seeger.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2006, in the Hockenberry Family Care Chapel followed by a luncheon in their Community Room. Interment of ashes will be at 3:00 p.m., at the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa.
