Darrel Schuler

Darrel Leon Schuler, 86 of Anita, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa. Darrel was born in Atlantic, Iowa November 8, 1936, to Ray C. and Beulah B. (Cambridge) Schuler. He attended the country school in Anita and graduated from Anita High School in 1954.
He was united in marriage to Joan Marie Misner on January 14, 1957. Joan passed away on April 25th, 1998. To this union four children were born, Larry, Sandra, Ronnie, and Steven.
Darrel and Joan traveled to Hawaii, Tennessee, and every year as a family to the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Iowa. Darrel was a farmer all his life. He helped his dad farm until his passing and then took over. He took great pride in keeping his John Deere tractors washed and polished, along with being an avid toy and tractor collector. He had a love for cats, feeding the birds and squirrels, and his favorite team was Iowa State Cyclones.
Darrel could do just about anything, such as Carpentry work, fixing machinery, anything around the farm. He could find water anywhere. Darrel was a member of the Anita United Methodist Church.
He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Jensen on September 9th, 2000. Carol passed away on December 19, 2017. Darrel and Carol took many trips during their life together.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; and wives, Joan Schuler and Carol Ann Schuler. Darrel is survived by: his sons, Larry (Sonya) Schuler of Marne, IA, Ron (Kandi) Schuler of Atlantic, IA and Steven (Jody) Schuler of Anita, IA; a daughter, Sandra (Lonn) Schlueter of Anita, IA; step-children, David (Jill) Jensen of Omaha, NE, Richard (Sandy) Jensen of Norwalk, IA and Jon (Joan) Jensen of Johnston, IA; Eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and One great great grandchild; and also many other family members and good friends.
Memorial services will be held at11 AM, Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Anita United Methodist Church in Anita, IA. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita. Visitation with the family present will be from 9 am until the time of services at the church. Memorials can be made in his name and will be designated at a later date to various groups in the Anita area.
