Mrs. Dorothy Stuart

Stuart, Dorothy Ann (Vandyke) age 93 passed away Monday, August 8, 2022, at Atlantic Specialty Care. She was born September 6, 1928, to Jake and Grace (Temple) VanDyke. She graduated from Fulton High School. After graduation, she lived in Chicago, IL, and then moved to San Diego, CA living with her brother who was in the Navy. She came back home, met and then married Gerald M. Stuart “Jerry” where they started their family. They welcomed two sons, Larry and Craig while living in the Fulton, IL & Morrison, IL areas before moving to Atlantic in 1965. She worked many years for the Atlantic Community School district in the cafeteria finishing out at Washington Elementary. They lived in Atlantic for many years before moving to Omaha, NE until returning home again in 1995. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” and son Larry, and daughter-in-law Karen. Parents, brothers & many in-laws.
She is survived by her son Craig and his wife Lori of Atlantic. Her grandsons, Derek (Michelle) of Orlando, FL. Bryan (Valerie) of Liberty, MO, and Kevin (Alanna) of Cedar Rapids, IA. Greatgrandchildren Landon & Brody of Orlando, FL, Mychaela (special friend Garrett) of Kansas City, MO, Jayden, Julia & Eva of Liberty, MO, Lynnea, Marek & Reid of Cedar Rapids, IA. Grandsons Christopher (special friend Amanda) of Stewartsville, MN & Michael (Mary) of Hopkins, MN.

No services are planned here in Atlantic and a private family burial will be held at the Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL where she will be laid to rest next to Jerry.

Arrangements are handled with the staff of Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Atlantic, IA.
