Frances M. Johnson, 89, of Marne, Iowa, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, May 27, 2006, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa, with her two daughters at her side.
Frances Marie Johnson was born February 14, 1917, in Defiance, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth (VonTersch) Majerus.
Earlier in her life, she had lived in Oakland, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska, and spent the past 67 years of her life in Marne, Iowa.
On April 2, 1937, Frances married Arnold Dean Johnson in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He passed away in December of 1998.
Frances farmed with her husband, Arnold.
She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa.
Frances is survived by two daughters, Caroline and her husband, Richard Hemmingsen of Marne, Iowa, and LaVila and her husband, Dale Nielsen of Johnston, Iowa; her grandchildren, Stanley and his wife, MaryAnn Nielsen of Des Moines, Iowa, Steven and his wife, Melissa Nielsen of O'Fallon, Illinois, Kayleen and her husband, David Foshe of Parker, Colorado, Rodney and his wife, Patricia Hemmingsen of Marne, Iowa, Kristine and her husband, Monte Friestad of Johnston, Iowa, and Kerrie and her husband, Matthew Mohler of Urbandale, Iowa; her great-grandchildren, Kaleb Foshe, Trey Hemmingsen, Zachary Hemmingsen, Keenan Foshe, Monte Friestad, Maren Nielsen, Derek Friestad, Frances Nielsen, Marijke Nielsen, Anneke Nielsen and Jacob Mohler; a sister, Veronica and her husband, Francis Baker; two brothers, Lawrence and his wife, Mary Jo Majerus, and Al and his wife, Louise Majerus.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; as well as several brothers and sisters.
The Funeral Mass for Frances Johnson will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at the Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa, with Father Dan Siepker officiating.
Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
A Scriptural Wake Service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday evening, followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. at Hockenberry's.
Committal services and interment will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery followed by lunch and fellowship in the Saints Peter & Paul Parish Center.
The family is suggesting that memorials go to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Atlantic, Iowa, in Frances' memory.
Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic is in charge of the arrangements.
