Georgia Blackman

Georgia Manson Davis Blackman, 82, of Lewis, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 5, 2006, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
Georgia Nell Manson was born on May 10, 1923, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Peter Alexander and Amelia M. (Kryselmier) Manson.
She was raised in Clarinda, Iowa, and graduated from Newberg High School in Newberg, Oregon, in 1941.
Georgia married Roy F. Davis, Jr. in September of 1942. Roy was killed in February of 1945 in France during WWII. In July of 1950 she married Robert T. Blackman, Sr.
She moved to Lewis, Iowa, in 1953. While living here she worked part-time at Walnut Grove and was a homemaker.
Georgia was a very active member of the Lewis Auxillary as well as the Lewis Church of Christ.
She was known of her sewing and tailoring abilities. Her children remember her as the glue that kept the family together and her always being apart of and attending all family activities. They also remember her canning.
Georgia is survived by son, Mike Davis and his wife, Marilyn of Wahoo Nebraska; daughter Susan Davis and her husband, Larry Ligon of Broomfield, Colorado; son, Robert Blackman, Jr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota; son, Bruce Blackman and his wife, Melodye of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Jim Davis of Corvalis, Oregon, Kay Callahan and her husband Allen and their children Steven, Carrie and Nash of Weeping Water, Nebraska; Amey Wahl and her husband, Stewart and their children, MaKenna and Jordan of Thornton, Colorado; Beth Pargulski and her husband David, and their children Sarah and Alex of Des Moines, Iowa; and countless family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, parents and three sisters, Marjorie Cox, Alice Higgins and Jessie Yarnell.
Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2006, at the Lewis Church of Christ in Lewis, Iowa.
A private family burial of ashes will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Atlantic Animal Shelter.
Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
