Mary A. McClung, 75, of Casey, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2006, at the Stuart Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa, where she had been a resident for the last couple of months.
Mary Alice Barnes was born on February 27, 1931, in Greenfield, Iowa, to Ralph and Johanna (Schildt) Barnes. She grew up in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1949.
She married Meril Eickert in July of 1956 in Greenfield, Iowa, and they lived in Clinton, Iowa. Mary married Sam McClung in 1972 in Atlantic, Iowa, and she had lived in Casey ever since.
Mary was a member of the Casey Service Club and St. John's Lutheran Church. Some of her hobbies included collecting antiques and genealogy research for other people. She volunteered her time at the Casey Museum and also had many of her own families' items on display.
She is survived by her son Colby McClung and his wife, Lisa and their children Mason and Owen all of Lincoln, Nebraska; brothers, Dale Barnes and his wife, Doris of Greenfield, Iowa, and Bill Barnes and his wife, Shirley of Omaha, Nebraska; former husband, Sam McClung of Casey, Iowa; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Alison.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Casey, Iowa, with visitation prior to the funeral from noon to 2:00 p.m., also at the church.
Committal service and interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Casey, Iowa.
Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Casey is in charge of arrangements.
